Music Ministry

First Presbyterian Church is filed with the joy of music!

Offering both vocal and instrumental music as a powerful expression of Worship, our goal is to lead the church to worship through music and to provide the congregation with a meaningful musical experience. We seek to glorify God through both contemporary and traditional music, foster personal growth in faith as Christian musicians, and provide musical education for children through seniors.

Our Music Ministry is an exciting place to learn, lead, and experience worship through music. Our Traditional 9:00 a.m. service incorporates both hymn music and a choir, whereas, our Contemporary 11:00 a.m. service has both modern music and a live band. These two worship opportunities allow our music ministry to have a wide variety of service opportunities for vocalists, as well as instrumentalists. We are a teaching music ministry, so anyone with a desire to be involved will be utilized in worship..

As a result of being a teaching music ministry, we are excited to offer special musical opportunities to various children and youth each year. Each group then performs on special occasions and each year, we also offer the teen ministry a chance to not only take over an entire Sunday worship service, but to also 100% take over and perform all worship music! These times provide a magical experience not only for our congregation but also for our music ministry. It is a blessing to teach, lead, and experience worship through music!

Chancel Choir

Our Traditional 9:00 a.m. service is led by our adult choir through traditional hymn music. We rehearse on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. time.

During choir practice, we emphasize musical and spiritual preparation each week. As a member of the First Presbyterian Adult Choir Music Team, you will be expected to serve on Sunday mornings by performing during our traditional 9:00 a.m. service, participate and assist with seasonal musicals for special occasions (for example: Easter and Christmas), and participate in additional teaching opportunities for youth through seniors.

Contemporary Praise Team

Our Contemporary 11:00 a.m. service is led by our live music band through contemporary Christian music and original live performances. We rehearse on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. time.

During our contemporary band practice, we emphasize learning cutting-edge Christian music that is Christ centered and will fully engage our members during worship. As a member of the First Presbyterian Contemporary Music Team, you will be expected to serve on Sunday mornings by performing during our contemporary 11:00 a.m. service, participate and assist with seasonal musicals for special occasions (for example: Easter and Christmas), help prepare, write and perform original music, along with participation in music teaching opportunities.
