NOTE FROM WORSHIP AND MUSIC COMMITTEE: The Worship and Music Committee recognizes the importance of sharing our joys and concerns, but has decided to make a change in procedure, for a variety of reasons. Starting today, you will receive an insert in your bulletin and this is to write down your joy or concern to share. Please fill them out, once seated, and ushers will pick them up during the prelude and give them to the pastor to organize prior to the general prayer.
ATTENTION ALL CURRENT AND PAST ELDERS AND DEACONS: We are currently scheduling communion servers for the 2012-2013 year. If you would be willing to serve communion and have not received a blue card in the mail, please contact Kim Bosma at 948-9532 or at msbosma@jasnetworks.net. Even one Sunday would be appreciated!

YOUTH
TODAY IS THE SOUPER BOWL OF CARING. Our youth are holding soup pots at the church doors; they are joining young people in churches across the country to collect money (and non-perishable food) for those who are hungry. All of the money we collect will be donated to Heifer to purchase animals for families in other countries and our food items will be taken to Love Inc. Please drop $1 (or more) in the soup pot as you enter or leave worship TODAY. Thank you!
No Youth Group TONIGHT – enjoy the Super Bowl!
Annual Meeting Dinner: (next week starting at 11:30 a.m.) – Prior to the annual meeting, the Youth Mission Committee and the youth will be hosting a dinner, in the Fellowship Hall. There will be a freewill offering collected; all proceeds from the dinner will benefit the 2012 Youth Mission Trip. Students, see Amy to sign-up to help serve and clean-up after the meal.
Middle High Youth Mix – February 24-26 – Congregation members, we are looking for donations of individual prepacked cookies, individual bags of chips, and water bottles for snack time for the Presbytery of Lake Michigan’s Middle High Youth Mix, which is being held here at our church. We are being told to expect around 100 youth and adult leaders. Please place your donations on the kitchen counter in the Youth Activity Room. Thank you!
Get involved with the Middle High Youth Mix – February 24-26 – We need people to work the registration table, chaperone youth, help prepare/serve food (talk to Marjory Richards), sleep in the hallways, etc. Please sign-up for a specific job, on the Youth bulletin board, in the Ministry hallway.
Christian Camp Scholarships: Middle and Senior High students, if you are planning to attend a Christian Summer Camp, you can apply for a camp scholarship in the Youth and Young Adult Ministry office. The new All-Church Lenten study of John Ortberg’s, The Me I Want To Be, begins the week of February 19, and open to all adults—and friends you might like to invite, whether currently involved in FPC or not This is a great outreach opportunity, and we hope you will invite a friend. Please consider participating in this DVD study either as a participant in a small group or as a host, in a room at church or in your home on a day or evening of your choice. Sign-up sheets for groups whose hosts have already offered meeting times and days are on the Adult Ministries Bulletin Board now; you may sign up as a participant in an existing group or offer an alternative meeting time and day by filling out a host form. WE hope all of you will consider that Lent can be a time not just of “deprivation” (giving UP something for Jesus’ sacrifice) but of preparation and increased devotion (giving our time and attention TO Jesus).
The Men’s Saturday Morning Breakfast Series has begun—and you may still participate! Led by Jim Spindler and John Johnston, the men will be using a study companion to, and watching the movie, Courageous, recently in theaters nation-wide. All men are invited to come at 8:30 for breakfast in the Fellowship Hall, with the study series following, ending by 10:30 a.m. Sign up on the Adult Ministries Bulletin Board to reserve a spot at the breakfast table—your tummies and your spirits will be well-nourished by this series!
