Noah's Ark Preschool

Thank you to everyone who helped with the playground. Thanks for all the special work that was done, time that was put in, all the ideas that were shared! We feel very blessed to have been given this so generously and with such great people of service to help! We could not have done it without you!

We will be having our Parent Orientation Meeting August 25 th . We do have a few spots open. If you know of anyone looking for a great preschool for their three year old, tell them all about the wonderfulness of Noah's ark Preschool!

With the beginning of the school year upon us we can always use the following donations:  disinfecting wipes, kleenex, plastic grocery bags, spray bottles, hand sanitizer... Please speak to Liz regarding any further donations.  Thanks so much!!

CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

Please be aware , there will be no Children's Worship on the Sundays of August 22 and 29 and September 5 and 12. This is due to our move to the new church and needing to pack up the Children's Worship room downstairs and get it situated in the new building. We'll see your children again starting September 19 th !

Sunday School begins on September 19 th ! I am currently in the process of finding volunteers to teach Sunday School. If you are interested in teaching, please let Tracy know a.s.a.p.! Thank you!

Communion Instruction class will take place on Sunday, September 26 th at noon. This class is for all children who have just entered the 2 nd grade and any of those who could have participated last year, but chose to wait a year. This class will take place with Pastor Jeff. He will instruct the children in the meaning behind taking communion as well as the etiquette of taking communion. Look for a sign-up sheet when we get into the new church!

ADULT MINISTRIES

YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN THE PRAYER TEAM IN THE LOUNGE for prayer between services, FOR JUST 2 MORE WEEKS!!!!

MEMORY BANNER AVAILABLE TODAY: Please notice and sign the banner on the table outside the lounge before or after worship today. There are only TWO weeks left to put YOUR thoughts, hopes and prayers on this “memory banner”.

We hope all of you will take the time to write your feelings and thoughts on this banner that will be posted inside the new building eventually. If you think along the lines of, “I remember . . .” with memories of events or “discoveries” made in this building, and “I'm looking forward to . . .” with your hopes and dreams for the future in the new building, we should end up with a priceless treasure of memories, events and dreams for the future to carry with us as we “Walk backward into our future” .

TRANSPORTATION TEAM ALERT: ARE YOU WILLING TO HELP ONE OR MORE OF OUR MEMBERS COME TO CHURCH ? We have a member who has had to move to a residence south of Delton, doesn't drive , AND another member living in the city who would also enjoy rides to church whenever possible.

We may also need to provide rides for some of our members on September 12, for our transition Sunday. If you are aware of people needing rides for that Sunday, or are willing to be a driver for those in need, please contact MM Melendy. If you can join the Transportation Team long-term and/or help out in these and other transportation needs, we need you and we thank you.

CAMP MICHAWANA invites all women to consider attending a Women's retreat, October 1-3. We realize this is early publicity, but also know that the earlier you might know of this event the better the chance you might have of adding it to your calendar.

Highlights of the weekend include the keynote speaker, author Shelly Beach, opportunities for “break-out sessions”, as well as activities such as trying a climbing wall or zip line; crafts, massages, nature walks and/or water sports, miniature golf, and a prayer walk, among other offerings (a nominal fee of $5 ea. for SOME OF these activities is required). You have the option to attend the entire weekend, staying in their lodge, commuting daily for the events or attending only Saturday for the “main events”. Prices are posted on the Adult Ministries Bulletin Board; a $5 discount per person is offered if we have a group of 10-or-more women. We'd love to have a big group representing FPC attend!

“COFFEE HOUR ” BECOMES “ FELLOWSHIP TIME” at our new site. Because we will be able to have coffee and refreshments in our large narthex before, between and after both services, we have increased need for volunteers both to provide refreshments (fruit trays, crackers & cheese, cookies, etc.) and to monitor the coffee pots on Sundays.

Consider the sign-up sheet in the dining room downstairs, or call MM Melendy or Marcia Leedy, so that your smiling service can be part of our hospitality offering to those who come through our doors on any Sunday this fall.

NOTE:  Today is the last regular “coffee time” between services in this building.   Next weekend during the Summerfest festivities you're all urged to go outside and participate in the outdoor service (even if you've already attended first service!), and on Labor Day Weekend, we felt it unnecessary to have coffee between services.  However, remember that on Sept. 12, our "Transition Sunday", you will have the opportunity for coffee and refreshments between 9 and 10:00 a.m. before our United Transition Service, and lunch will be served at the new site following the remainder of the worship service at the new building.

The new “In-house” Directories are ready!  Many thanks to “The Karens”:  Karen VanDenBerg for her excellent photography, and to Karen Koedam for the lay-out and printing of them, as well as to the members of the Adult Ministries Team for assembling them during Ministry Night.

They are in alphabetical order on the long buffet in the dining room; be sure to pick yours up today or next Sunday, or whenever you're in this building, SOON! Those not picked up before “THE MOVE” will be on display in the new Narthex for a few weeks; remaining directories will then be mailed.

OTHER

The Trustees have asked that anyone who is interested in part time custodial work in the new building to contact John Merritt at 269-948-8468 .

Volunteers are needed for : woodworking projects, moving pews, and painting pews. Contact Ned Brown if you can help . This work will be concentrated during the next 3 weeks.
