What's Happening at First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church reorganized in 2006 into five major ministry areas. Each ministry unit is moderated by an Elder and assisted by staff charged with strengthening the church's overall ministry and mission through the activities with their unit. Jeff Garrison is pastor of the church. More details of the Ministries is provided on the page entitled "Our Ministries" (see link at left).

Moving Ahead

At a congregational meeting held at noon on Sunday, August 14, 2005, the congregation voted to proceed with the acquisition of a 33.45 acre parcel of property located on the west side of M-37, just north of Airport Road. At the time of the vote, it was announced that the Finance Committee would be coming with a proposal for paying for the property. The congregation voted in faith to go forth with the acquisition. Afterwards, Larry Baum, who had been negotiating on behalf of the church, announced that the property would be purchased and donated to the congregation. This site is worth nearly a half million dollars and will provide us with more than enough property to build a church, and have space for recreation and outdoor activities. Please contine to pray for the Building Committee as the work to finalize this acquisition and begin to develop plans for the property.

CROP Walk

We had eleven members (or families) take pledge envelopes this year and collect donations for the 2005 CROP Walk.

Due to your generous support, our walkers raised over $1900, setting a new recofed for our church. The money raised will benefit many in our community, as well as those suffering from Hurrican Katrina, the earthquake in Pakistan and other areas of the world where there is hunger and the need for clean water.
